West African Beats is an annual concert celebrating the soul of art and music that was brought to the Americas across the middle passages along with the multiple percussive keyboards, string, wind instruments, drums and flutes.  West African Beats is a contemporary inspiration of this exciting and important music which this program embodies and interprets through performances by top pianists, percussionists, vocalists, and choreographers from Africa, the Caribbean, and across the West in the forms of classical, jazz, rhythm & blues and other African American regional music and dance.
